Hi, I’m Alexis Haymans *

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s degree from Fordham University and a Bachelor’s degree from James Madison University. I work with teens and young adults, specializing in anxiety disorders, LGBTQ+ identity and sexuality, and women’s issues. My goal is to create a safe, affirming, and collaborative space where you feel supported, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes.

In our work together, I draw from approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused, Feminist, Strength-Based, and Trauma-Focused therapy. Whether you’re navigating a life transition, managing overwhelming emotions, or exploring your identity, I’ll help you build practical skills and insight to move forward with confidence and clarity.

Specialties

Life Transitions

Major changes, whether planned or unexpected, can bring excitement, uncertainty, and stress. I help clients navigate transitions such as starting school, entering the workforce, moving, relationship changes, or shifts in identity. Together, we’ll process your experiences, clarify your priorities, and develop strategies to help you adapt while staying grounded.

Anxiety & Depression

Anxiety and depression can make everyday life feel heavy and unpredictable. Together, we’ll explore the roots of these feelings while also developing practical coping tools you can use right away. Drawing on CBT, mindfulness-based techniques, and solution-focused strategies, I help clients find relief, build resilience, and reclaim a sense of hope and control over their lives.

Women’s Issues

Women often face unique challenges related to identity, relationships, career, family roles, and societal expectations. Whether you’re navigating life transitions, setting boundaries, or working to heal from past experiences, I offer a supportive, empowering space to explore your needs and goals. We’ll focus on building self-confidence, reclaiming your voice, and living in alignment with your values.

LGBTQ+

Exploring your identity or navigating life as part of the LGBTQ+ community can be empowering, but it can also bring challenges especially in the face of societal pressures or lack of support. In our work together, you’ll find a safe, affirming space to explore who you are, strengthen your sense of self, and make changes that align with your values and well-being.

Trauma Recovery

Past trauma can shape how you see yourself, relate to others, and navigate the world. In our work together, you’ll find a safe, steady space to process your experiences at your own pace. Using trauma-focused, evidence-based approaches, I help clients reduce distress, build resilience, and move toward a sense of safety, empowerment, and self-compassion.
