Hi, I’m Alexis Haymans *
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a master’s degree from Fordham University and a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University. I work with teens and adults, specializing in anxiety disorders, LGBTQ+ identity and sexuality (including support letters), and coping with life transitions. My goal is to create a safe, affirming, and collaborative space where you feel supported, understood, and gently challenged.
In our work together, I draw from approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and trauma-informed interventions. Whether you are navigating overwhelming emotions, adjusting to a difficult life change, or exploring your identity, I will help you build practical skills and self-compassion to move forward with confidence and clarity.
Every part of you is welcome here, and I’ll show up with kindness, honesty, and genuine interest in who you are.
Specialties
Life Changes
Major changes, whether planned or unexpected, often come with a mix of excitement, uncertainty, and stress. I support clients through transitions such as starting school, entering the workforce, relocating, relationship shifts, or changes in identity. Therapy can be a place to make sense of what’s changing, clarify what matters most, and develop practical ways to stay grounded and resilient during periods of growth.
Anxiety & Depression
Anxiety and depression can make everyday life feel heavy, overwhelming, and unpredictable. In our sessions, we will explore the underlying factors contributing to these experiences while also developing practical coping tools you can use in your daily life. Together, we will work to strengthen emotional regulation, improve interpersonal relationships, and enhance confidence and effectiveness in work and school settings.
Women’s Life & Emotional Well-being
Women often navigate layered expectations related to relationships, career, family roles, and self-identity. If you’re entering a new phase of life, working on boundaries, or healing from past experiences, therapy can help you reconnect with your needs and priorities. Out work focuses on strengthening self-confidence, deepening self-awareness, and supporting you in living more authentically.
Identity & Sexuality
Exploring identity or living openly as part of the LGBTQ+ community can be deeply affirming, and it can also come with real challenges—especially in the face of stigma or limited support. I offer affirming care that supports identity exploration, self-trust, and emotional well-being. I also provide gender-affirming care support letters and assist clients in navigating insurance requirements for gender-affirming procedures.
Trauma Recovery
Past trauma can shape how you see yourself, relate to others, and navigate the world. I’ll provide a safe, validating space to process your experiences at your own pace. Using trauma-informed techniques, we’ll work to reduce distress, build resilience, and move toward a sense of safety and control.
